Cancel for a full refund. Try a different country — UK, Germany, and France currently have the best Wise SMS delivery speed in our fleet. Don't keep hitting 'Resend code'; each resend can trigger a lockout on Wise's side.
Wise's SMS codes expire quickly (typically 5 minutes), and requesting a resend invalidates all earlier codes. If you requested multiple codes, earlier ones are dead.
Always use the MOST RECENT code in your VirtualSMS inbox. If you see multiple Wise codes, ignore all but the latest. If the latest also fails, the session may have timed out — cancel for a refund and restart.
Wise requires identity verification for all accounts — this is separate from the phone verification step. A phone number completes the SMS step only; it does not replace Wise's KYC process.
This is expected and normal. Complete Wise's identity verification directly with Wise using your government ID. The phone number handled the SMS step; the ID step is handled by Wise's compliance team — typically takes minutes to a few days depending on your country and account type.
