Why it happens

The fix

Viber asks for voice call verification instead of SMS
Why it happens
Some number ranges or traffic patterns trigger Viber's voice-call fallback, particularly in the US and Tier 3 markets. This is Viber's routing decision, not a VirtualSMS issue.
The fix
Accept the voice call if offered — VirtualSMS numbers in most Eastern EU and Western EU countries receive inbound voice calls, and the code appears in your dashboard the same as an SMS. If the number doesn't support voice in your chosen country, cancel for a refund and pick an EU number where voice is confirmed available.
Code arrives but Viber rejects it as expired or incorrect
Why it happens
Viber codes expire in 10 minutes. If you requested multiple resends, only the most recent code is valid — earlier codes are invalidated the moment a new one is issued.
The fix
Always use the MOST RECENT code in your VirtualSMS inbox. If you see multiple Viber codes, discard all but the newest. If the newest also fails, cancel for a refund and restart — the session likely timed out.

Why it happens

Viber shows 'Too many verification attempts' lockout
Why it happens
You tried to verify the same number 3+ times in quick succession. Viber locks the number for 24 hours after repeated failed attempts — whether the failures were on your end or Viber's.
The fix
Cancel the locked number for a full refund. Use a number from a different country and wait 10+ minutes before initiating a new attempt. Don't tap 'Resend code' more than once — each retry counts toward the limit.
Lost Viber account after activation number was released — can't recover
Why it happens
