    TL;DR

VirtualSMS provides Baidu verification via real Vietnam mobile numbers (+84 prefix) — physical carrier-issued SIM cards, not VoIP. Vietnam numbers from regional operators pass Baidu's network-detection checks where Google Voice, TextNow, and MySudo get rejected as disposable. Numbers activate in under 30 seconds. Pricing from $0.15 per activation, paid in USDT, USDC, BTC, LTC, or SOL via NOWPayments. If the Baidu code doesn't arrive within 20 minutes, your balance is refunded automatically. Alternative to hero-sms, 5sim, SMSPool, SMS-Man, OnlineSim for Vietnam Baidu verification — with real SIMs instead of shared VoIP pools.

    Which Vietnam carriers we run

Vietnam Baidu activations come from a mix of tier-1 mobile networks and the MVNOs that diaspora communities lean on for cheap international rates. The pool rotates with stock — right now you're likely to get a SIM from Viettel, Vinaphone or one of the MVNO brands that ride those same networks: MobiFone, Vietnamobile, Reddi (Mobicast). All real mobile-network SIMs, not VoIP. Baidu's anti-VoIP detection (the same check that rejects Google Voice and Twilio numbers) sees these as regular Vietnam mobile lines because that's what they are.

Five real reasons people need a number to access Baidu services

Baidu's ecosystem extends well beyond search — Tieba (China's largest forum), Netdisk/Pan (cloud storage), and Baidu Account all require phone registration. Here's why people outside China need a number.

    01

Non-China users can't receive an SMS to a local number — Baidu's OTP goes to the registered phone

If you're outside China and want to access Baidu Tieba, Netdisk, or any Baidu-authenticated service, you need a number that can receive an inbound SMS. Your regular SIM can usually do this — the problem is that Baidu heavily favors mainland China numbers (+86) and is increasingly strict about which foreign numbers receive OTPs at all. A virtual number from a compatible market gives you a working inbound route.

    02

Creating a second Baidu account — for research, content moderation work, or brand monitoring

Baidu ties each account permanently to a single phone number. If you need a second account for research, competitive monitoring, or content separation, you need a second number. A virtual number avoids carrying a second SIM or paying for a second phone plan.

    03

Your original Baidu account is locked and the recovery number is inaccessible

Baidu locks accounts after suspicious login activity or extended inactivity. Recovery requires the original registered number. If that number is no longer in service (old SIM, different country), you're locked out permanently unless you verify with a fresh number via their dispute process. A virtual number from a compatible country gives you a fresh starting point.

    04

Accessing Baidu Netdisk/Pan shared files from outside China

Some Baidu Netdisk share links require a logged-in Baidu account to download — and registration requires a phone number. People receiving large files via Netdisk often need to create an account specifically to access one share. A virtual number keeps your personal SIM out of Baidu's system.

    05

Data-only SIMs and eSIMs don't receive Baidu's OTP

Travel eSIMs and data-only plans have no SMS capability. Baidu's registration flow sends an OTP only via SMS — not email, not authenticator apps. A virtual number with real inbound SMS solves this immediately.

    Baidu-specific problems and fixes

Baidu has stricter registration controls than most Western platforms. These are the real failure modes we see — with specific fixes for each.

Baidu refuses to send an OTP to the number at all

    Why it happens

Baidu's SMS gateway does not route OTPs to all foreign country codes. EU and North American numbers are deprioritized compared to Asian country codes. The refusal happens before any code is sent — you'll see an error like 'invalid phone number' or the OTP simply never arrives.

    The fix

Cancel for a full refund. Switch to a Tier 1 country (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore). These have the highest OTP delivery rates for Baidu specifically. Do not retry the same country code repeatedly — if Baidu rejected it once, it will reject it again on the same session.

OTP arrives but Baidu's registration shows 'verification failed'

    Why it happens

Either the code expired (Baidu OTPs are typically valid for 5 minutes), or Baidu's session timed out between the OTP send and entry. A CAPTCHA or slider on the same page can also invalidate an OTP if you took too long.

    The fix

Always use the MOST RECENT code from your VirtualSMS inbox. Complete any CAPTCHA steps BEFORE requesting the OTP — not after. If the code fails, cancel on VirtualSMS for a refund and restart a fresh session.

Baidu asks for a selfie or photo ID instead of just an OTP

    Why it happens

Baidu escalates accounts to full identity verification when the IP country doesn't match the phone country code, when the registration IP is a VPN or proxy, or when the account triggers Baidu's high-risk threshold. This is Baidu's KYC layer — not a phone number issue.

    The fix

This is unrelated to the number type. You'll need to complete Baidu's identity verification with a valid ID. If you're unwilling to do this, you'll need to change your approach: register from a residential IP in the same country as your chosen phone number, and avoid logging in via VPN on the first session.

Account gets locked after first login — 'account security risk detected'

    Why it happens

Baidu locks fresh accounts that log in from a different country or device than the registration IP. Logging in via VPN, then switching to a direct connection, or using a browser extension Baidu considers suspicious triggers this.

    The fix

Use the same network setup for your first few logins as you used during registration. Complete Baidu's unlock flow via the registered number (this is why rental numbers are better for accounts you plan to keep). Avoid changing your login country within the first week.

Baidu Netdisk (Pan) requires a higher security level than just account registration

    Why it happens

Netdisk download limits and some share link features require a Baidu account with completed security verification — which may include binding a real-name ID. Phone registration alone unlocks basic access, not all features.

    The fix

For basic Netdisk access (downloading shared files, viewing shared folders), phone-only registration is sufficient. If you need higher download speeds or storage, Baidu requires real-name verification (Chinese ID card) — this is Baidu's regulatory compliance requirement and cannot be bypassed with any virtual number.

Baidu Tieba posts are restricted — account shows as 'new user' with limited posting

    Why it happens

Baidu Tieba restricts freshly registered accounts from posting freely — rate limits on new posts, image uploads, and replies are standard for any new account regardless of number type. This is Baidu's anti-spam layer, not a number issue.

    The fix

New Baidu Tieba accounts need a warm-up period: browse communities first, upvote existing posts, then post gradually. Accounts that jump straight to posting in high-activity forums get shadowbanned. This is identical to Reddit's karma requirement — it's a platform behavior, not a phone number issue.

Can't use Baidu services — the whole region is blocked by my ISP or company network

    Why it happens

Baidu's services are geo-blocked in some countries and heavily filtered in others. A phone number doesn't solve network-level blocks.

    The fix

A phone number solves the account registration and OTP layer — it doesn't address network geo-restrictions. If Baidu's services are blocked on your network, you'll need a compliant way to access the endpoints before the phone number is relevant. VirtualSMS only covers the SMS verification part of this flow.

Frequently asked questions about Baidu virtual numbers

Can a non-China number actually verify Baidu?

Yes — with caveats. Baidu accepts foreign phone numbers for registration, but OTP delivery reliability varies significantly by country code. Asian country codes (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore) deliver OTPs far more consistently than EU or North American numbers. This is Baidu's routing decision, not a carrier issue. See our country tier guide above for the current rankings from our live order data.

Does Baidu detect and block virtual numbers?

Baidu checks whether a number has been previously used on a Baidu account — numbers with prior registration history get rejected. Real carrier-issued SIM numbers from fresh ranges pass this check. What Baidu does check separately is the country code: mainland China numbers (+86) receive OTPs most reliably; foreign numbers are a secondary tier. VirtualSMS provides real SIMs from outside China — they pass the carrier-type check but are subject to Baidu's foreign-number routing policies.

Can I register Baidu with a mainland China +86 number?

VirtualSMS does not offer mainland China (+86) SIM cards. We operate SIM infrastructure outside China. If a +86 number is a hard requirement for your use case, you'll need a service with physical presence in mainland China — and those services operate in a different regulatory environment. For most international users, Tier 1 Asian numbers (HK, TW, MY, SG) are the practical alternative.

What is Baidu's real-name verification and does it affect me?

Baidu's real-name verification (实名制 / shímíng zhì) is a Chinese regulatory requirement for certain services — it requires linking a Chinese national ID to the account. Phone registration alone doesn't satisfy real-name verification. For basic Baidu Search, Tieba browsing, and standard Netdisk access, phone-only registration is sufficient. For some advanced Netdisk features, Tieba posting rights in certain communities, and other regulated functions, real-name verification is required — and no virtual phone number can bypass a Chinese ID requirement.

Will Baidu's OTP SMS be in Chinese?

Yes. Baidu sends OTP messages in Chinese (Simplified) regardless of the SIM's country. The format is consistently: 百度验证码:[6-digit code] 请勿泄露给他人 (Baidu verification code: [6-digit code] Do not share with others). The code itself is just 6 digits — you don't need to read Chinese to copy it.

Can I use the same virtual number for multiple Baidu accounts?

No. Baidu binds one account per phone number, permanently. Once a number is used for a Baidu account (including suspended or deleted ones), it cannot be used to register a new one. This is why we source fresh SIM batches — used numbers fail before Baidu even sends an OTP.

How long does Baidu registration take with a virtual number?

3–5 minutes typically: register at passport.baidu.com → buy number on VirtualSMS → request OTP → code arrives within 30–60 seconds → complete registration. Allow extra time for any CAPTCHA or slider verification steps Baidu adds mid-flow. If you're using a Tier 2 country, budget an extra minute for potential OTP delays.

How do I pay for the number?

Crypto (BTC, USDT, ETH, LTC via NOWPayments) or credit/debit card. Minimum top-up $2. Unused balance stays in your account indefinitely — no expiry, no subscription, no monthly fees. You pay only when the OTP is delivered.
