TL;DR
VirtualSMS provides WeChat verification via real Sweden mobile numbers (+46 prefix) — physical carrier-issued SIM cards, not VoIP. Sweden numbers from regional operators pass WeChat's network-detection checks where Google Voice, TextNow, and MySudo get rejected as disposable. Numbers activate in under 30 seconds. Pricing from $0.30 per activation, paid in USDT, USDC, BTC, LTC, or SOL via NOWPayments. If the WeChat code doesn't arrive within 20 minutes, your balance is refunded automatically. Alternative to hero-sms, 5sim, SMSPool, SMS-Man, OnlineSim for Sweden WeChat verification — with real SIMs instead of shared VoIP pools.

Which Sweden carriers we run
Sweden WeChat activations come from a mix of tier-1 mobile networks and the MVNOs that diaspora communities lean on for cheap international rates. The pool rotates with stock — right now you're likely to get a SIM from Telia, Tele2, Telenor Sweden or one of the MVNO brands that ride those same networks: Three Sweden (3), Comviq, Hallon, Lycamobile Sweden. All real mobile-network SIMs, not VoIP. WeChat's anti-VoIP detection (the same check that rejects Google Voice and Twilio numbers) sees these as regular Sweden mobile lines because that's what they are.
Five real reasons people verify WeChat without their personal number
WeChat is not optional in large parts of Asia — it's the default payment rail, business communication layer, and social fabric. These are the situations we see every day.
01
You're outside China and need to reach Chinese contacts or clients
WeChat is how Chinese businesses, suppliers, and family members communicate. If you don't have an active WeChat account, you don't exist on their preferred channel. A real mobile number — Chinese, Malaysian, or Singaporean — is the entry ticket WeChat requires. Your local SIM in a Western country won't cut it: WeChat's registration flow heavily favours numbers from markets where WeChat has dense penetration.
02
You need a separate WeChat account for business
WeChat Personal and WeChat Business use the same app infrastructure but distinct accounts. Chinese suppliers and buyers often keep strict account separation — one number per identity. If your personal WeChat was registered with your home-country SIM years ago, setting up a dedicated business-facing account requires a second number. A virtual SIM from Malaysia or Singapore gives you that second identity without a second phone.
03
Your existing WeChat account was banned or disabled
WeChat permanently disables accounts for policy violations and doesn't reinstate them. The number used on the banned account is also flagged. A fresh real-SIM number — from a different country if needed — starts with zero history on Tencent's scoring system. VoIP numbers are blocked before the SMS is even sent; only carrier-issued SIMs pass WeChat's number validation.
04
You need WeChat Pay for transactions with Chinese merchants
WeChat Pay (integrated into WeChat) is the dominant payment method for Chinese e-commerce, in-app purchases, and supplier payments. You need an active, verified WeChat account to access WeChat Pay as a non-mainland user. The verification step that unlocks Pay requires an inbound SMS code to your registered number — that's exactly the step a VirtualSMS number covers.
05
Your current SIM doesn't receive inbound SMS reliably
Data-only SIMs, eSIMs, and modern travel plans increasingly skip SMS capability. WeChat's registration code arrives only by SMS — there's no email fallback, no authenticator-app option at the initial registration step. A real-SIM virtual number with confirmed inbound SMS delivery solves this in under a minute.
WeChat-specific problems and how to fix them
WeChat has the most multi-layered signup friction of any major messenger. These are the real failure modes and their real fixes.
WeChat says the number is invalid or not supported
Why it happens
WeChat restricts SMS OTP to countries where it has verified carrier agreements. Some country prefixes are blocked at the OTP-send level regardless of number quality. VoIP number ranges are also silently rejected before the SMS is sent.
The fix
Cancel for a full refund. Switch to Malaysia, Singapore, or Hong Kong — these have verified carrier relationships with WeChat's SMS gateway. Don't retry with a different number in the same country if the first one returned 'invalid'; the country-level block will apply to all numbers from that prefix.
OTP never arrives within 2 minutes
Why it happens
Either WeChat's SMS gateway is experiencing congestion on that carrier route, or the specific SIM has a delivery issue. WeChat's OTP routing is less reliable than WhatsApp's — occasional delays are normal.
The fix
Cancel for a full refund. Try a different country from Tier 1 (Malaysia, Singapore). Don't hit 'Resend' more than once — WeChat rate-limits accounts that request multiple OTPs in quick succession and may lock you out for 24 hours.
WeChat requires a 'friend verification' QR scan after the SMS step
Why it happens
Tencent added a social-graph verification step to combat automated account creation. After the SMS OTP, WeChat may display a QR code and ask you to have an existing WeChat user scan it within 24 hours to 'unlock' your account. This is a platform-level anti-bot measure — it's triggered by account patterns, not number type.
The fix
This step cannot be bypassed by changing numbers or using a different tier. You need an existing WeChat user to scan the QR code. Options: ask a friend with WeChat, post in a WeChat community or Telegram group for mutual help, or use a WeChat account management service that has existing contacts. Once scanned, the account is fully activated.
Account is immediately restricted to read-only after registration
Why it happens
New WeChat accounts from IPs or device profiles associated with VPN, datacenter traffic, or unusual registration patterns are placed on automatic cooldown. The account exists but can't send messages for 24–72 hours.
The fix
Don't try to use the account immediately for outbound messaging. Set a profile picture, set a WeChat ID (username), and don't add more than 5 contacts in the first 24 hours. Let the account 'age' for at least 48 hours before using it for business outreach. This is a behavioral pattern check — the number type is not the cause.
WeChat asks to call the number instead of sending SMS
Why it happens
WeChat uses a voice-call OTP fallback in some registration paths — particularly for accounts where the number's SMS history triggers caution. Not common with Tier 1 country numbers.
The fix
VirtualSMS numbers receive voice calls in some markets (check availability for your country before buying a rental). If voice call is offered and your number supports it, accept — the numeric code dictated by voice works the same way. If your number doesn't receive voice calls and SMS is blocked, cancel for a refund and try a different country.
Account banned within days of registration
Why it happens
WeChat's AI moderation is aggressive: mass-messaging, adding too many strangers too fast, joining too many groups in quick succession, or using the account from multiple IPs will trigger an automated ban. This is a usage-pattern violation, not a number-quality issue.
The fix
New WeChat accounts need significant warmup: add 1–2 known contacts first, wait 48 hours before joining groups, set a full profile (avatar, name, region) before engaging with anyone. Don't use the fresh account for outbound sales or any volume-based activity in the first week.
WeChat Pay setup requires additional verification after account is active
Why it happens
WeChat Pay (Wallet) is a separate product within WeChat with its own identity-verification layer. For non-mainland users, WeChat Pay requires linking an international bank card or using a mainland Chinese bank card — the phone number alone doesn't unlock WeChat Pay for overseas accounts.
The fix
WeChat Pay availability for non-mainland accounts is controlled by Tencent's regional agreements — a virtual number doesn't change that. Peer-to-peer transfers between WeChat contacts may still work with a verified account. For full WeChat Pay access, you may need a mainland Chinese bank card linkage (outside our scope).

Frequently asked questions about WeChat virtual numbers
Does WeChat block virtual numbers?
WeChat blocks VoIP number ranges and shared-inbox numbers — those fail before the SMS is even sent. Real carrier-issued SIM numbers, which is what VirtualSMS provides, are not systematically blocked. However, WeChat's fraud detection is more aggressive than most messengers, so success rates (78%+ on our Tier 1 countries) are lower than WhatsApp or Telegram. We tell you this upfront rather than over-promising.
Is the 'friend QR scan' step required for all WeChat registrations?
No — but it's common, particularly for accounts registered from IPs outside WeChat's dense-user regions (Southeast Asia, China). Tencent added this step as an anti-bot layer. When triggered, it's a social-graph verification: an existing WeChat user scans your new account's QR code within 24 hours. The virtual number step (SMS OTP) is completed before this — it's a second gate, not a replacement. We include this in the how-to above because most guides pretend it doesn't exist.
Can I register WeChat with a US or European number?
Yes, but with lower success rates than Southeast Asian numbers. WeChat's OTP gateway is optimised for its core markets — Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and mainland China. US and European numbers work (we list them as Tier 3) but you should have a Tier 1 country number ready as a fallback. The friend-scan step is also more frequently triggered on accounts registered from Western IPs.
What happens if my WeChat account gets banned and I need to re-register?
The number used on the banned account is flagged by Tencent. You'll need a different number from a different carrier range — ideally a different country — to create a fresh account. WeChat's ban is also device-fingerprint aware; a fresh number on the same device may still be flagged. If you're managing WeChat accounts that need to survive long-term, use rentals and cycle device fingerprints.
Can I use a WeChat account registered with a virtual number for business?
Yes — a WeChat personal account registered with a virtual number functions identically to one registered on a regular SIM. For formal WeChat Official Accounts (公众号) or WeChat Work (企业微信), those require a business registration and Tencent approval — they're separate products with separate verification requirements that aren't solved by a virtual number.
How long does WeChat OTP delivery take?
For Tier 1 countries (Malaysia, Singapore, HK), usually under 60 seconds. WeChat's SMS delivery is slower than WhatsApp's — build in more time before assuming it failed. If nothing arrives after 2 minutes, cancel for a full refund and try another country. Don't keep hitting 'Resend' — WeChat rate-limits aggressively and can lock the session for 24 hours.
What's the cheapest country for WeChat registration?
Indonesian and Malaysian numbers are typically the most cost-effective within our Tier 1 and Tier 2 WeChat markets. Check the live pricing section above — prices update with available stock. Don't optimise for cheapest-per-number; optimise for cheapest-per-successful-verification. A lower-success-rate country number that requires two attempts costs more in total than a Tier 1 pick on the first try.
Is using a virtual number for WeChat against the rules?
WeChat's terms of service require accounts to represent real users and prohibit automated bulk-account creation. Using one virtual number to register one WeChat account for personal or business use falls within normal terms. Using virtual numbers to mass-create WeChat accounts for spam or automation is a violation — WeChat detects and bans that pattern aggressively regardless of number type.
How do I pay?
Crypto (BTC, USDT, ETH, LTC via NOWPayments) or credit/debit card. Minimum top-up $2. Unused balance stays in your account indefinitely — no expiry, no subscription, no monthly fees. You pay only when the OTP is delivered — the charge is deducted when WeChat's SMS lands in your dashboard.
