Residential data from $3.49/GB, with lower per-GB rates at larger packs
A web scraping proxy routes your collection traffic through another connection so you can make location-aware requests without concentrating every request on one IP.
VirtualSMS residential proxies are the practical default for many scraping projects because they use home broadband connections, while datacenter proxies are cheaper and mobile proxies are usually reserved for unusually aggressive targets. Use a proxy alongside sensible pacing, caching, and the target site’s rules, not as a promise that you will never be blocked. Residential data is prepaid from $3.49 per GB at the smallest pack down to $2.30 per GB at 100 GB and above, never expires, and has no subscription. Both HTTP and SOCKS5 are supported, with country-level targeting so requests match the region you are collecting from. For projects that also need a logged-in session, VirtualSMS Cloud Browser, in private beta, pairs the same proxy with a verified number and an isolated browser.
Rate limits, IP bans, geo-restricted content, and CAPTCHAs are the practical reasons teams consider a proxy for web scraping. A proxy helps you separate a research workflow from your usual connection and request a country-specific version of a page. It does not remove the need to respect rate limits, terms, access controls, or the rights attached to the data you collect.
A proxy gives your collection work a different IP path instead of concentrating every request on one connection. It supports sensible pacing and rotation, not a promise that a target will accept unlimited traffic.
See pages, prices, search results, and availability as they appear from the country you select. This is useful when content changes by region or a site serves local versions.
Use a consistent residential connection when you need to compare a market over time, collect public availability data, or validate a change without mixing every request into one local IP.
Choose for the target and the data, not because one proxy type promises a universal outcome.
| Datacenter | Residential Default choice | Mobile | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connection type | Datacenter range | Home broadband ISP | Mobile carrier network |
| Scraping fit | Fast, lower-cost collection | Most general web scraping | Aggressive targets or mobile-specific checks |
| Tradeoff | More easily flagged | Higher cost than datacenter | Highest cost |
| General guidance | Start here for simple public data | Default for most projects | Use only when the job justifies it |
Datacenter proxies are generally the cheapest and fastest, but anti-bot systems can flag their ranges more readily. Residential connections look like real household connections and are the default recommendation for most scraping work. Mobile connections can be harder to block, but their higher cost makes them overkill unless a target is unusually aggressive or you need a mobile-specific view.
A lot of real-world collection happens after an authorized login: a marketplace you manage, a booking account, or a social platform workspace. That workflow can need a verification number and a browser as well as a proxy. Standalone proxy vendors sell the connection, but not the number and browser pieces that a login-based task can require.
Cloud Browser is in private beta: it puts a real carrier number, a country-matched IP, and a private browser in one workspace. It is manual and supervised today, not automated. You drive the session yourself, and we are onboarding gradually while we improve.

For a small, text-heavy job, measure the data used by a representative set of pages and start with the smallest pack that covers it. For image-heavy pages, JavaScript rendering, pagination, or regular monitoring, include room for larger responses and retries. The useful number is measured transferred data after a pilot, not an optimistic guess based only on page count.
View residential proxy options and buy with balanceDocument the fields you need, the target’s rules, and how often you need updates. Prefer a published API or licensed source when one is available.
Run a limited collection through the proxy, record transfer size and errors, and add delays and caching before expanding the workload.
Increase pages or cadence only when the results, bandwidth use, and target response show that the job remains appropriate.
A proxy can reduce the chance that one IP absorbs all of your traffic. It does not override a site’s terms, robots.txt, rate limits, login rules, CAPTCHAs, or access controls.
Changing IPs does not make a high request rate safe. Start with the smallest useful dataset, cache what you have already collected, and increase only when the target permits it.
Images, rendered pages, retries, and duplicate crawls add up quickly. Estimate from a small sample before choosing a larger pack, then keep an eye on actual usage.
Good collection work is less about finding a magic IP and more about making each request necessary. Keep an audit trail of what you collected and why, remove fields you do not need, and review the project when the target changes its rules or behavior. Those habits help control bandwidth as much as they help keep a workflow responsible.
FAQ
Not always. A datacenter proxy can be a practical lower-cost option for simple public pages when the site permits your collection and does not treat that traffic as suspicious. Residential proxies are the usual default when a project needs a connection that looks like a household ISP, when a target is more sensitive to datacenter ranges, or when you need a country-specific view. Mobile proxies can be harder for sites to block, but they are also more expensive and are usually unnecessary for ordinary scraping. Start with the least expensive connection that fits the target and the data you need. The important part is still your collection plan: follow applicable terms, use reasonable request rates, cache results, and avoid repeating work. A residential proxy changes the route your requests take. It does not create permission, guarantee access, or make unlimited requests acceptable.
No. A proxy can reduce the risk that all requests come from one IP address, but it cannot guarantee that a site will not block, challenge, throttle, or otherwise limit your collection. Sites can consider many signals beyond an IP, including request rate, repeated patterns, browser behavior, account status, content rules, and whether the data is available to collect at all. The most reliable approach is to make the workload smaller and more respectful before changing infrastructure: collect only the fields you need, add delays, cache successful responses, avoid duplicate runs, and stop when a site asks you to stop. Residential proxies are useful because they route traffic through home broadband connections, which can be a better fit for many web-scraping projects than a datacenter range. They are not a promise of no blocks, and they should never be positioned as a way around a site’s rules.
Measure a small representative run first. Multiply the average transferred data per page or API response by the number of pages you actually need, then leave room for retries, images, pagination, and occasional rendering overhead. A text-only availability check can use very little data, while product pages with images, scripts, and long lists can use much more. VirtualSMS residential proxy data is prepaid and does not expire: 1 GB costs $3.49 per GB, 3 GB costs $2.90, 10 GB costs $2.70, 25 GB costs $2.50, 50 GB costs $2.40, and 100 GB or more costs $2.30. That makes it sensible to start with a smaller pack when your request size is unknown. Track usage after the first run, tighten caching and filtering, then choose a larger tier only when measured demand supports it. There is no subscription or monthly reset to force you into unused bandwidth.
Some real-world research tasks happen inside an account, such as checking a marketplace, booking site, or social platform you are authorized to use. A proxy alone is only one half of that setup: a login flow may also need a verification number and a browser session. VirtualSMS Cloud Browser is in private beta and brings a real carrier number, a country-matched IP, and a private browser into one workspace. It is manual and supervised today, so you drive the session yourself from first click to last rather than delegating it to an automated browser. The beta CTA is Join the free beta, and we are onboarding gradually while we improve. Use it only for accounts and data you are authorized to access, and follow the service’s terms and applicable law. Cloud Browser beta does not solve CAPTCHAs, enter codes for you, or promise automated collection.
It depends on what you collect, how you collect it, the site’s terms, robots.txt, access controls, copyright and database rights, privacy obligations, and the jurisdictions involved. Publicly visible information is not automatically free to collect or reuse at any scale, and logging in, collecting personal data, or bypassing technical restrictions can create additional risk. Treat robots.txt and published rate limits as useful signals, read the target’s terms, keep request rates reasonable, and get qualified legal advice when the project is material or unclear. This page is general information, not legal advice. A proxy changes the network route for a request; it does not grant permission, change a contract, or make restricted data available. Build your workflow around a legitimate, documented purpose and minimize the data you collect, retain, and share. When a site offers an API or a licensed data route, that may be the more appropriate option.
