Start with a plus sign and the country code, then the national number and no spaces: +447911123456 for the UK, +14155552671 for the US, +34600123456 for Spain. Without the country code the lookup cannot tell which national numbering plan to read the number against.
The Home Location Register is the live GSM database that says which carrier a number is currently attached to and what kind of line it is. This is the same signal WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Google consult before they decide whether to send you a verification SMS.

Not in plaintext. Lookup results are cached against a hashed key for 30 days so repeat queries are instant. Aggregate lookup counts (per country, per day) are kept for capacity planning. If you opt in to the PDF report, your email and the source page are stored against the attribution record, full terms at /privacy.
