These are the actual failure modes we see on Roblox. Each has a specific cause and a specific fix — don't retry blindly.

"This phone number is already associated with a Roblox account"

Why it happens

Roblox permanently links a phone number to any account it was ever added to — even if that account is now inactive or the number has since changed hands. A prior user of this SIM may have added it to their Roblox account years ago.

The fix

Code never arrives within 2 minutes

Why it happens

The fix

Code arrives but Roblox says it's wrong or expired

Why it happens

Roblox's verification codes expire after a few minutes. If you clicked 'Resend code' before the first one arrived, the earlier code is now invalid — Roblox only accepts the most recently issued code.

The fix

Roblox won't send an SMS — shows an error during phone-number entry

Why it happens

Roblox sometimes rejects number formats it doesn't recognize, or the number range has been flagged as a high-volume virtual number block. This happens during the entry step before any SMS is sent.

Roblox account locked — "Your account has been moderated"

Why it happens

This is an account-moderation action unrelated to the phone number or the verification process. Roblox moderates accounts for terms-of-service violations, exploits, or flagged behavior — the phone number type does not cause moderation.

The fix

Roblox asks for identity verification (ID upload) instead of an SMS code

Why it happens

Roblox's age-verification system (Roblox's ID verification, which unlocks voice chat and 17+ features) is a separate flow from phone verification. ID upload is an account-level check triggered by age settings or specific feature access, not by the number type.

The fix

This is unrelated to VirtualSMS. Complete Roblox's age-verification flow separately via their platform. Phone verification for 2SV and account recovery proceeds independently of the ID verification step.
