How to cancel an order before the SMS arrives

Cancel any active order from your dashboard. Full refund to your VirtualSMS balance — no penalty, no waiting period. The number rotates back to inventory. Use cancellation if you picked the wrong country, no longer need the verification, or the platform is rate-limiting your requests.

Step-by-step

1. Open your dashboard at virtualsms.io/verifications.
2. Click the active order you want to cancel. It opens an order-detail panel showing the number, status, and a Cancel button.
3. Click Cancel order. The balance is credited back immediately and the number is released.

When to cancel vs wait for auto-refund

• Wait for auto-refund if you’re still hoping the SMS will arrive. Sometimes carrier routing is slow but eventually delivers. You’ll get auto-refunded at the 20-minute mark anyway if nothing arrives.
• Cancel manually if you realize you picked the wrong country, the platform you’re signing up to is showing rate-limit errors, or you simply changed your mind. No reason to wait the full 20 minutes.

Refund mechanics

• Where the refund goes: to your VirtualSMS balance, instantly. Not back to your crypto wallet (that’s a one-way deposit by design — the payment processor doesn’t round-trip crypto refunds).
• How much you get back: the full amount you paid for that order. No cancellation fee, ever.
• What you can do with the balance: use it on any future order. Funds don’t expire.

What doesn’t get refunded

Nothing. If you cancel before SMS arrives, you get the full amount back. If the SMS doesn’t arrive within 20 minutes, you get the full amount back via auto-refund. If the platform rejects the code after SMS delivery, you can request a manual credit (see platform-rejected-code troubleshooting).

The only case where you don’t get refunded is when the SMS arrives AND the platform accepts the code AND you’ve already used the verification successfully. That’s a completed order.
