Why didn’t I receive the SMS — and what to do
In short
20-minute auto-refund, manual cancel, or get a new number.
If 20 minutes pass without an SMS arriving, your order is automatically refunded to your VirtualSMS balance — no support ticket needed. You can also cancel manually at any time, or grab a fresh number for the same service. Most no-SMS cases trace back to country-mismatch with your IP or platform-side rate-limiting, not the number itself.
How the 20-minute auto-refund works
Every single-use activation has a fixed 20-minute window from the moment you place the order. The system continuously checks for inbound SMS on the SIM associated with that order. If a message arrives within the window, it surfaces in your dashboard within ~8 seconds and the order closes as completed.
If the 20 minutes elapse without an SMS, the auto-refund fires automatically. The full amount goes back to your VirtualSMS balance — not to your crypto wallet (that’s a one-way deposit by design). Balance funds work on any future order with zero friction.
What you can do right now
- Wait for the auto-refund. If you’re still inside the 20-minute window, sit tight. Occasionally an SMS takes longer than expected due to carrier routing — especially in tier-2 countries during peak hours.
- Cancel manually. From the order detail page, click Cancel order. Full refund to balance, no penalty, the number rotates back to inventory. Use this if you realize you picked the wrong country or no longer need the verification.
- Buy a fresh number for the same service. If the first number got flagged at the platform side, a new number from a different country often works on retry. Pricing is the same.
The three most common causes
When a real-SIM verification fails, it’s almost always one of these reasons:
- Country mismatch. You bought a UK SIM but signed up with a US IP address. Major platforms (Telegram, WhatsApp, Tinder, dating apps, banking) cross-check the SIM region against the IP geolocation and silently suppress the SMS when they don’t match. Fix: pair the SIM country with a residential proxy or VPN endpoint in the same country.
- Platform rate-limiting. If you tried to verify the same account multiple times in a short period, the platform’s anti-burner system may be holding back the SMS. Fix: wait 30–60 minutes and try again with a fresh number from a different country range.
- Number was just used for the same service. Inventory rotation is fast, but occasionally a recycled number got flagged by the target platform during a prior owner’s session. Auto-refund catches this within the window; you just retry with another country.
What VirtualSMS guarantees
What every order includes
- Real SIM — passes carrier-registry checks on Telegram, WhatsApp, and strict platforms
- Best-country guidance — buy page sorts by recent per-country performance
- ~8 seconds average SMS delivery time
- 20-minute auto-refund SLA on every activation
VoIP-based services are widely rejected by WhatsApp and Telegram at the carrier-registry check. Real cellular SIMs are what makes the difference.
Still stuck?
If you’ve cancelled and retried with a different country and still no SMS, the platform you’re verifying may be enforcing carrier-level blocks on virtual numbers entirely. This is uncommon, but it happens with strict financial platforms. Open a chat with support and we’ll check the route history for that platform.
